This saw really surprised me with how well it works. I had a standard gas powered saw that died t.. I had a standard gas powered saw that died the ethanol induced death so I decided to give this a try. I have a few other 40v Ryobi lawn tools so the battery issue isn't huge for me. The only downside to this was the battery it comes with is smaller than the battery that I got with the leaf blower and hedge trimmer, which is a little surprising.
It works well and eliminates the need for mixed fuel.. It works well and eliminates the need for mixed fuel and yanking on the starter cord. It was used to fell and cut up a 30' tree and did so with ease until the battery discharged after about 20 minutes of cutting.Amazing for small trees, limbs, etc. It's even capable of.. It's even capable of some larger stuff, but the battery will run out faster and there is a chance it gets stuck.
If you are looking for a strong, lightweight saw for light to moderate use this is the saw for yo.. If you are looking for a strong, lightweight saw for light to moderate use this is the saw for you.It chews through wood like a rabid beaver with a empty belly. It has really good cutting manners, cuts with hardly any downward force.
I had the 18v one + chainsaw and it was not good for bucking logs but good for small branches or smaller diameter trees, 5-6 inch max, the 40v saw is good for bigger trees and bucking logs. I made 14 cuts through a log that drained 2 18v batteries in less than 5 min of use. If you need a saw for around the house and light clearing around deer camp and don't want the hassle of oil and gas you could do a LOT worse. To cut branches from a tree trunk - 6 or smaller- this is great, cut for close to an hour. To cut up the trunk itself - over 8 - the battery doesn't last. The extra power needed for larger logs seems to sap the power quickly. Mine was done in 10 minutes. The weight, cutting, and ease of use - all great. Great to use, great to have. I bought this for light duty work around the yard and it has been more than I expected. I had a dying oak tree and used this saw to cut up the limbs and was almost able to cut up the entire mess with just one charge. I charged the battery and was able to finish the job quickly and easier that I would have thought.
The chain saw cut through the limbs as though they were butter. Very pleased with the easy operation and performance of the saw. This review was collected as part of a promotion. Easy to operate, lightweight enough to hold and works extremely..
Easy to operate, lightweight enough to hold and works extremely well. Worked well cutting the branches.. Worked well cutting the branches I needed cut. I was very surprised at the power of this tool... I was very surprised at the power of this tool.
It did such a great job on the fallen trees in my yard. Battery life was pretty small but entertaining chainsaw performed just.. Battery life was pretty small but entertaining chainsaw performed just fine thx. Only used it once since I bought it, so far.. Only used it once since I bought it, so far so good, the chain didn't come off at anytime.
Ideal tool for a homeowner with wooded property. The directions for use were easy to follow, the saw was relatively lightweight, easy to start and comfortable to hold. It wasn't the least bit noisy. I have, in the the past, used various size gas and hydraulic chainsaws in my profession and found this one incredibly easy to use. I believe that any handy DIY homeowner would have no problem using the saw.Wasn't sure what to expect based upon some negative reviews. If one needs a saw for pruning and not heavy duty cutting, this will do the job The battery power is definitely sufficient for stop and go cutting.
I was using it to cut Areca palms up to 4 inches thick without a problem. I have other Ryobi products so I was able to change batteries if needed. I haven't found a problem with oil leaking. The only feature that I found annoying was cleaning out the debris. It would nice to have a way to clear the debris without removing the cover and loosening the blade.
I've use gas chainsaw before... The electric chainsaw is practically vibration free and a lot quieter to operate! It is great for small jobs, cutting down small trees, up to 10 inches, and trimming. I was pleasantly surprised with this product. My gas chainsaw was never ready when I needed it. I had to take it apart every time I wanted to use it.
Totally frustrated, I took a chance on this thing and WOW! Had a downed tree in the yard and this thing lasted to the last cut and still had juice left.I highly recommend it to those who are as frustrated as I was with my gas tools. I also have the weed trimmer that runs on the same battery. The power of the saw is excellent.
However the battery life is not great... I can buck one 8-10 inch log. It is the perfect size for doing any brush, tree trimming you will need to do around your home...
I bought this to cut overhangs- It works so awesomely that I have tackled a couple of standing dead trees- Absolutely No complaints- as l ok ng as you have a spare battery or two. Got this as a Christmas present from grandsons. Had limb trimming that needed to be done, this saw worked great, cut through the limbs like butter while maintaining the charge. Brushless Chain Saw is lightweight and easy to handle yet powerful enough to do more then just light trimming of branches. Cutting speed is almost as fast as my gas chainsaw.
Excellent battery life, although I recommend having a spare battery handy for the longer jobs. Only had this for a month and so far it's breezing through all my projects. The power is sufficient and also holds the bigger 40V batteries. No more gas and hand cranking. Just pop in the battery and you're ready to go. Bought this chainsaw with the purpose of cleaning up a lot of overgrowth in my yard, incl a few small trees. I like that it's battery powered so I don't have to worry about mixing fuel or prepping a carb for winter storage. That feature also gives me the mobility I need for my property that a plug-in electric just could not provide. I bought this so I could help my husband as the big chainsaws are too much for me to handle lol!
This is great for me to do smaller branches while he does the big stuff! Bought saw recently and began cutting wood right away. Starts easy and slices right through thick wood. Powerful quiet great addition to 40v arsenal. I was pleasantly surprised as it cut through 3 and 4' tree limbs effortlessly.
Meets the needs of a home owner. Love it, or screwed around the house plus the battery goes along with other items that I have. This came as a Christmas present and I was surprised at how powerful it was. No more trying to figure out why my gas powered saw won't start This review was collected as part of a promotion.
Needed to remove a tree... No fuel and saw this... And now will get the other tools in the set This review was collected as part of a promotion. This Chainsaw fits my needs perfectly. My first use was to cut down a small oak tree.
This chainsaw was lightweight and very easy to use. Cut the tree into firewood for another season. This saw replaced an older gas powered chainsaw. I certainly don't miss having to pull and pull on the starting rope of the old saw. This new saw is a joy to use.Ripped through 6-8 logs like butter. Almost as powerful as a small gas chainsaw but without the pullcord, mixed gas and fussy carburetor.
I'd give it 5stars if the battery life was longer. This is the perfect chainsaw for use around the house.
It is light but still has significant power. The battery lasts long enough that I'm done before it is and the cutting power stays consistent rather then slow down as the battery near the end of its charge. This is one of my top 5 Ryobi tools. My wife got me this Chainsaw because I needed a lightweight saw for trimming and cutting small logs. It cuts thru small logs like butter.
The only drawback is the battery doesn't last long. I was aware of this before getting it though. The bigger battery will deal with this. Excellent battery life and works great.
Not cut very much with it yet, what i did cut it made a fast job of it. Used early in the morning while the wife was sleeping and i didn't get inteouble for waking her up lol! Plenty of power to cut through 6' diameter limbs that i was cutting up, the best part is next time i need a saw i won't have to get carb worked on for it to run right or change gas out because its old. Highly recommend This review was collected as part of a promotion.Easy to use, great tool to supplement heavier equipment. Great battery powered chainsaw, run time no so goo. I have many Stihl chainsaw which i love. I wanted a battery powered chainsaw so i can cut a dozen or so logs without having to fuel and oil up my stihl saws.
The power is very good; maybe not quite as good as a Stihl or Husqy, but very close. Only grip i have is that the 1.5 Ah battery doesn't last long at all. It's light weight, easy to operate and good for ave.
I bought this a month ago at a reasonable price from Home Depot This review was collected as part of a promotion. I love the fact the you drop the battery in it and its ready to go.
Really is gas like power. My gas chainsaw was in the shop because the choke was stuck, and I got tired of the maintenance of gas chainsaws. I already had a Ryobi 40v string trimmer so I opted to extend the system.I bucked three logs on half a charge which was more than I expected. This model is lightweight, easy to use and very efficient. It cut through the tree I needed to saw as if it were butter.
I'm very happy with this product This review was collected as part of a promotion. I bought this battery operated chain to use on my property. I was able to use this for the first time today, and it was incredible. Clearing cedar trees and trimming limbs off of oak trees.
It was like cutting through butter. Close to the power of a gas chain saw.
Cuts with very little operator effort. 1.5 Ah battery sucks! 8 cuts on a 6' limb and it was dead. Put in a 4.0 Ah battery and finished cutting up the downed tree and battery still not dead. I have used gas powered chain saws for years and years.
I was in need of a new saw and I was debating if a battery powered saw would be powerful enough. Granted the largest tree I have cut so far is about 6 inches in diameter but it cut through it no problem.
Pros:Plenty powerfulSo easy to snap in the battery and goIf you have an extra battery you can swap them out in less than a minute. Con:Battery only last about 40 minutes.
I usually have enough cut though that I can drag limbs while it charges. If you do not consistently have large trees I would highly recommend.
This cordless chainsaw is light and variable speed. I just got this saw for christmas. It charged up in an hour as advertised.
The weight of the battery is about the same as the saw weight. I will be using the saw to cut wood in lengths to fit my wood lathe.Since the saw is variable speed it will be perfect for that job since it is easy to control. Nice not to have to keep a gas saw handy any longer for small jobs. Power was as expected, if not more. Same battery as other tools, in my case mower & blower This review was collected as part of a promotion. Exceeded my expectations for a battery operated chainsaw This review was collected as part of a promotion. Great tool for quick cutting and cleanup.
I have a couple of gas chain saws for downing and cutting up logs. But for smaller trees and cutting up branches, it takes too much time to fuel up and start the gas monster.I like being able to just grab my cordless chainsaw and get the job done. The 40 volt battery makes this 14 inch saw cut as well as a gas powered saw without the need to add fuel that may stay in the saw for months or have to be drained out. It will easily last for an hour of light cutting, including downing and cutting up small (6-10 in diam) trees. This product has been a long time go to.
Never disappoints me This review was collected as part of a promotion. I was really impressed with the power and cutting capabilities This review was collected as part of a promotion.
Is a excellent tool and I recommend a 100%. Is a strong tool This review was collected as part of a promotion.3rd one I have bought in one year! The'stock' battery doesn't last very long, but I also bought the 40v mower. I came with a 5ah battery.
I bought another when I got the second saw, and a 2.6 ah'backup battery. That will fill my golf cart with a 2' sided bed on back and basket welded to front bumper, all up, approx 1/4 to 1/3 cord!
Then simply put batts in chargers and next day good to go again... Get most power to the chain and lot lower friction/drag, so batts last longer, and cuts faster also. Keep chain sharp also, is important. A tree fell a few days ago due to strong winds in my property located in Auburn, WA and this chainsaw performed excellently!Powerful, very low noise, light, easy to handle, and easy to clean. I used two batteries within an hour and the approximately 75 feet tree was turned into logs. Perfect for Branches and Small Trees.
I bought this chainsaw this fall to remove several small trees and trim branches, and it has worked like a charm! Just got one 4 the wife she luvs it and i do to also This review was collected as part of a promotion.
Great saw for around the house. Bought this to take down a small tree in my yard. Cuts well but need to get another battery as it doesn't last as long as I need.Perfect for the everyday person. This electric chainsaw beats a gas chain saw in it's quietness and maintenance. I have used it to cut limbs, vines, and medium sized trees. It had more power than I thought it would, but still not as powerful as a gas chainsaw. I don't have to worry about the fuel sitting in it for extended periods when I'm not using it that can damage a typical gas chainnsaw. It's perfect for a home owner that needs it for occcasional around the yard jobs without fear of it malfunctioning years down the road. Worked perfectly Battery lasted and saw cut through all This review was collected as part of a promotion. Amazing Power in an Unsuspecting Package. I've been very happy with the Ryobi cultivator I bought, so I figured I'd give this a chance. I love the power the 40 volt batteries have, but the chainsaw draws so much the run time is very short (with intermittent use I get about 10 minutes on the supplied battery, and about 20 with the high capacity my cultivator came with).
Though they charge very quickly, I spent a good amount of time waiting for the batteries to charge so I could continue working. I wish it had come with the higher capacity battery, and I'm glad I had another at the ready. Overall it has about the same power as a gas saw, super quiet while running, chain brakes very quickly, and it's light and balanced enough to hold without fatiguing. I'm looking forward to some more use in the spring. 3 friends have used it and all agree it is solid tool.
Powers thru wood just like a gas one except it's quieter, cleaner and safer in my opinion. I have multiple batteries to keep things going. Have had the same for approx a month it's working great for the small trees I'm cutting up. Bought for ease of use, found out many more pluses.
Low vibrations, low noise, lightweight, great Power. I bought this tool last week on a hunch, i didnt expect it to be so good. Nice tool to have for a DIY kind of guy. I bought this about a month and a half ago and it is a nice, useful and convenient tool to have for yard tree trimming. My husband bought me a 40v 14in.
Brushless chain saw for Christmas. No worry about if it will start, just charge the battery, check bar oil and chain adjustment and away i went. Thanks so much for a great product. Gail This review was collected as part of a promotion.
I had a tree come down in my yard for the first time 1.5 months ago. I researched and hoped this tool was going to fill my need. Easy to use, easy to clean and wow, it just went through that downed tree (20' diameter) like it was nothing. Thanks This review was collected as part of a promotion. They say in their advertisement that it runs like a gas one and of course I was skeptical. Now I don't have to worry about being tied down with electrical cords or taking 5 minutes to start up a gas one. This saw has been a really useful tool for the yard projects I have going on. It is convenient and easy to use. Also not to heavy so I have been able to use on a ladder.
I also bought an extra battery and this has made for lots of saw dust everywhere This review was collected as part of a promotion. So glad that I got this product. I received this chain saw a few weeks ago and was able to trim a few trees before winter hit.
The saw did a great job on what I had to trim. The only item that I would say needed to be improved on would be the size of the battery. The one that comes with this saw is a bit small and can run out of power quickly. Used to cut down two trees in my yard, saw cuts very strong and smoth.
I've used the saw a couple of times abs can't believe how it must cuts through good size logs without a hitch. Battery lasted about 45 minutes or so. I brought my extra I had from my string trimmer, but didn't need it. I was looking at another brand's 80 volt model and it was much more expensive.
I have used this saw several times already , and except for the poor battery life, it work very well. Since the battery only last around 20 minute or so one cannot take on ant major task. Very happy with the battery life and overall power. This light weight saw is more powerful than I thought it would be. By the time the battery needs charging, time to take a water break.Battery charges in about an hour. Very easy for this 80 year old woman to use. Cuts good size branches without any problems. I've gone full Ryob This review was collected as part of a promotion. Bought this thing a few months ago when I had a tree come down on my back yard.
I was a little concerned if it was up to the task, or if the battery would last. It didn't disappoint as it cut right thru the tree trunk with ease. I was very happy with it that when my friend had a similar situation but instead of just being a little tree his was a full grown two foot diamiter trunk tree, I let him barrow the chainsaw. He was very happy with it as he was able to cut that tree down to small pieces. So if you are concerned about power don't be. The weight is similar to that of a gas powered one. I take this with me on my SXS/UTV and use it just to clear fallen trees and other things.
I don't use the batter that came with it as it doesn't do as good as the next size up. I have the lawn mower and weed-eater so I have 4 batteries in total and the chainsaw came with the smallest. Hard to say how much cutting you can do cause it varies on size but I'm quite impressed on what it does cut and lasts too.
Easy to adjust the chain and the tool is on the chainsaw so you don't have to go look for it. So glad we got it , in hurricane area, works great , love it This review was collected as part of a promotion. Safe & Easy To Use.
It has been years since I operated a chainsaw and I wanted a lightweight chainsaw for a buckthorn removal project. My husband and I found it safe and easy to use. We also liked that it was battery powered and quiet since we live in a suburb.
I'm 70 yrs old I'm tired of trying to start my regular gas chain saw, I do mostly trim now or trees under 12" in diameter resently we had 9 trees cut down for us they just fell them and I used my new Ryobi 14" chain saw to do the rest This review was collected as part of a promotion. Powerful - Lite - Easy to Use - No Gas Mix. I have used it to cut up medium sized trees. I have an extra battery so it was easy to cut 2 to 3 trees at one time.
No more mixing gas and pulling choaking and pulling again. This saw is perfect for my yard. No more running power cords, no refueling. My RYOBI Saw is great for grab and work. This is the perfect chain saw for the average home owner!Light, powerful and easy to use. It does what it should for having a 14 inch bar.
Great tool in addition to bigger gas saws! Glad to have this option on the tool shed! Highly impressed with it's performance so far. The wife can't start our gas saws and loves this for a trim saw around the yard. Mama is happy, and that makes me happy!
Love the fact that you just pick it up and go. Not very heavy and very easy to use. Only minor issue is that the battery doesn't last that long. If you are going to use this for more than 15+ minutes, you should either get an additional battery or upgrade to a higher Ah.Light and easy to use. Light weight and easy to use. Used it to cut trees up to 6' diameter. Easier to use for trimming than a sawsall. Easy to use and power to spare. I love those electric tools, I have a trimmer and now this chainsaw that uses the same 40 volts battery. It's a great tool for any branches and trees that a 14' chainsaw can handle. I bought this about a month ago. It's powerful like a gas chainsaw, but light weight. I could not be happier with this saw. It cuts 2-3 inch oak branches like butter. The best part is, I pull the trigger, and it starts cutting. I'm wearing my shoulder out trying to pull start a cold gas saw. And I don't have to worry about the gas going sour or mixing it right. That being said, it is a small saw meant for around the branches and small trees. I wouldn't want to use this for serious tree clearing or cutting firewood to heat the house over the winter. For my needs, and what I expect is most people's needs, this saw is ideal.
Great Product, should include larger battery. This is a noticeable upgrade with significantly more cutting power.I was limbing larger trees with limbs in the 1 to 4 inches in diameter and depleted the battery in 10 minutes. Went to my second battery from the older 12' and that was about 8 more minutes.
The big battery from the weed wacker lasted significantly longer. I did find that you can get more cutting done if you cut a bit slower and gentler than maxing it out.Similar concept to driving for mileage rather than speed. Ryobi should also have included a chain removal adjustment tool rather than having customers rely on an existing one or using a wrench and screw driver. If I had the larger battery option and they included the chain adjustment tool, the saw would be rated a 5. Got this saw from HD the other day to trim the dogwoods. Already had the heavy duty battery for my hedge trimmer.
Never had a chain saw before. This thing is easy to use, and works perfectly. Just bought it and I like it so far.
I will put it to work soon! I've been looking for a lightweight, easy to maneuver chainsaw & chose this one.
It's compact, light, easy to use. Really a great and quiet product This review was collected as part of a promotion. Works better than I Expected. It cut through 12 inch Sugar Pine branches easily and did a good job cutting 8 inch Paper Birch. I do with the batteries lasted a little longer, but they do recharge.I use for firewood, and to clear roads on my small farm when there is fallen timber. Customer service is our top priority!
